New residential chapter
As the project reaches its final stages, the retained industrial character and contemporary architecture have come together to form a distinct new residential address in this tightly held pocket in South Geelong.
Fox Building - Apartment Builder
The Bottleworks has entered its final construction phase, with local builder Fox Building delivering the apartments within the Glassworks Factory.
Old but new - historic signage
As part of the restoration of former Glassworks building, the original sign has been reinstated ensuring a tangible connection to the site’s industrial past is embedded within its transition to residential living.
Townhomes nearing completion
The progress onsite is incredible to see with Glenvill Projects working towards staged completion of all townhomes between March to May this year.
Restoration - Glassworks Factory
A specialist builder completing the restoration works within the former Glassworks Factory before conversion to boutique apartments is now onsite at The Bottleworks.
Construction advancing
Construction is well underway at The Bottleworks, with the site team from Glenvill Projects pleased with the milestones achieved over the past two months.
Framing works
Recent images highlight the asymmetrical outline of the townhomes and the vision by Chamberlain Architects to honour the original industrial sheds on the site through clever design.
Site works update
Glenvill Projects are making significant progress on construction of the townhomes. Across the site slabs have been poured for nearly all homes and frames have started to go up.
The Bottleworks Bear Hunt
As part of the bear hunt movement during COVID-19 lockdown periods in Geelong, The Bottleworks featured large, spray-painted bear murals on the exterior of its iconic shedding.
Release of the apartments
Seven warehouse-style apartments featuring raked ceilings on the first floor, original timber columns and meticulously reconstructed architectural details paying homage to the site's storied past.

Townhomes start
Glenvill Projects have mobilised on site and commenced construction works for the townhomes. Recent drone footage has captured the works happening across the site.
Civil works update
All land settlements in Stage 1 of The Bottleworks are now complete. Construction of the townhomes at The Bottleworks are set to commence soon.
Site transformation
Things are certainly looking very different on-site. The demolition team have removed the non-heritage elements of the former Big Shed so that only the 1920s Glassworks factory building remains.
Removal & recycle
Following extensive internal works to protect the 1920s glassworks structure, local contractor the Salvage Centre are carefully removing, recycling and demolishing buildings across the site.
Meet your neighbours event
Attendees were given guided ‘last look’ tours of the industrial sheds - including the former Geelong Glass Works factory - the 1920s-era building central to the project's heritage restoration.

The display suite opens
The on-site display suite is now open! The display provides a firsthand look at the interiors of both The Bottleworks townhomes and apartments.
An industrial heritage
The name ‘The Bottleworks' is borrowed from the former industrial past of the site at 135 Fitzroy Street. In the 1920s, The Geelong Glass Works Ltd produced bottles in a purpose built glassworks factory.
