In the news

Did you see The Bottleworks in the Geelong Advertiser and Times News Group this week? Great articles about the project and retention of the historic Glassworks building.

In his article The Bottleworks: Heritage Factory Conversion to Take Centre Stage in Geelong’s Big Shed Redevelopment, property journalist Peter Farago explores the transformation of South Geelong’s historic “Big Shed” into a thoughtfully designed residential community.

The development, led by Hygge Property and designed by Chamberlain Architecture, aims to preserve the industrial character of the site while introducing 33 architect-designed townhomes and seven apartments.

Central to the project is the restoration of the 1920s Geelong Glass Works building, which had been concealed for decades beneath later warehouse additions. This heritage structure will be revitalized as a focal point within a landscaped communal garden, offering a unique blend of historical significance and modern living.

The surrounding townhomes will echo the original warehouse’s asymmetrical rooflines and material palette, ensuring the new development harmoniously integrates with its industrial past.
