Old but new - historic signage
The Glassworks factory building has been carefully restored by heritage specialist Abode Restoration.
To retain important links to the site’s industrial past as it transitions into residential living, the works included conserving the original timber beams and reinstating the iconic historic Geelong Glass Works Ltd sign across the factory roof.
The sign was hand-drawn and painted by Phil Son - a traditional sign painter.
As part of the restoration strategy for the former glassworks site, the sign has been reinstated in the spirit of ‘ghost signs’ - ensuring a tangible connection to the site’s industrial past is embedded within its transition to residential living.
